For too long, the professional spaces in which we work every day have allowed inequality, inappropriate behavior and ethics responsibilities to lie dormant, rarely addressed or corrected. As we’ve moved into a new decade, unexpectedly upended by a global pandemic, no longer are we permitting these problems to be swept under the rug. The problems and the problematic are facing accountability, thanks in large part to the legal fortitude of people like attorney Angela Reddock-Wright.

Our cover story on her is one of courage and conviction from a woman who, perhaps before she even knew it herself, was seemingly destined to become a lawyer. Her purpose—to become a specialist and mediator in the labor-and-employment field, as well as an advocate against workplace discrimination, bullying and sexual and other types of harassment—was set in motion at an early age and propelled by her hunger for education, a facility for public speaking and a law firm mentorship that solidified her wish to pursue a career in the law.

Along with esteemed female lawyers like Reddock-Wright, our Seventh Annual Women in the Law publication is a celebration of legal talent across the country, the women who have worked tirelessly to foster careers of purpose, change and equality in a field that remains disproportionately male. We hear from women listed in Best Lawyers® about how their firms are navigating post-pandemic work culture—including costs, client expectations, hybrid and remote work—and how it all affects their lives.

We dive deep into the legal implications of upcycling clothing, a practice prevalent among those who value vintage labels. ESG, pay equity, data privacy trends, fintech and the power of LinkedIn when pitching the right legal expertise to the right clients round out the editorial for this issue.

With a special focus on all listed lawyers in the U.S. in Family Law, a directory of the more than 1,000 female “Lawyer of the Year” recipients for 2022 and listings for all women in The Best Lawyers in America® and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America for 2022, this Women in the Law issue is the most comprehensive guide to, and celebration of, female legal talent in the United States.

We’re honored to bring this edition to life and commemorate all the extraordinary legal expertise among women across the nation.
